Ramadaniyat Beirutiya took place over the last few days, from July 1 to 4, at BIEL. As I had previewed in this post, the festival lived up to its expectations, drawing in families and groups, in the presence of various embassies. Old Beirut was recreated, and so were the streets. I walked around the designers’ stands and felt transported back decades ago to the Beirut I have seen in photos, whether through the design pieces exhibited or the overall ambiance. In the center was Nejmeh Square, and in front of it a stage was set up to showcase musical and fashion design talents. To add to this Ramadan event, each night a unique Iftar theme was held, Europe, America, Arab World and Asia. Unfortunately I had such a busy schedule that I could only make it to 1 night out of my 4 invitations, and lucky for me it was the Asian cuisine, one of my favorites. I took a few photos save the main dishes which were covered to keep warm.
