Break This Fashion Rule NOW

Coco Chanel once said something along the lines of: Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory.

While this was true before, it is the fashion rule you MUST overlook this season. The trending looks are all about stacking accessories to complete an outfit or dress up a basic tee. If you haven’t tried it before, you might feel a little self conscious, so start modestly and add one piece everyday until you feel like you own it. Remember to mix styles and sizes of the accessories. When it comes to necklaces, play with the lengths, choose a short or long pendant with a statement piece. With rings, wear one or more on each finger. As for bracelets, mix bangles with cuffs, hard metal with beads, and you will create an edgy look. Look at these pictures for inspiration, and go ahead, be creative! read more

Cheap and Effective Wrinkle Care

Its never too early to start worrying about wrinkles, and although its a natural result of aging, it doesn’t mean we can’t try to keep them at bay. One of the causes of wrinkles is dry skin, and as the skin ages, it loses its ability to retain moisture. By keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated, you can slow down the process. The trick is petroleum jelly, namely Vaseline. This household product can replace hundred dollar creams and is just as effective. Try spreading a thin layer under and around your eyes at night before sleep, it locks in the moisture, and if you already have some wrinkles it can puff and smooth them out. Be careful not to put too much as it might cause acne and breakouts depending on your type of skin. Jennifer Aniston uses this under her eyes, and Marilyn Monroe on her face, to name just a few celebrities. I haven’t tried it on my face though so I can’t recommend it, I just ran into my bathroom to try it as I am writing this post but one time doesn’t qualify for a review, but under my eyes is a routine I started following religiously. Give it a try tonight! read more

Men’s Watch Guide

A watch is the single most important accessory a man can wear, and that being said, it is a must that the watch worn is appropriate for the occasion. Here is a guide for the types of watches and their corresponding events, so men take note!

1. The Everyday Watch

This watch should be able to be worn daily, from running errands to going to work to going out. Although casual, doesn’t mean it should be low end, because it will be worn a lot and it needs to be durable, so mid range is the way to go. For that last reason, a stainless steel watch is ideal as it won’t rust, and it can go from day to night and can be worn with any outfit without worrying about mismatching. read more

Pores and Blackheads Removal

Its annoying how sunlight can expose the flaws you’ve been hiding all winter. Every hair, every pore, and the list goes on. One of the natural techniques I am incorporating into my beauty routine right now, is facial cleansing and removal of blackheads.

1. Rub a coin size of olive oil on your face, focus on the nose and forehead or any spot that has blackheads. Massage for 1 minute.

2. Wet a cloth with hot water, and press it on your face for a few seconds until the heat subsides.

3. Rinse the cloth and wet it again with hot water and rub your face gently to remove the olive oil. read more

1st, fill your lips with lip liner, preferably the same shade as your lipstick.

2nd, apply lipstick on your lips.

3rd, blot with a napkin.

4th, apply powder on your lips.

5th, reapply lipstick.

And voila, you should be good to go…and last!

Product Review: Oil Replacement Therapy

I’m quite an addict when to comes to hair products; having curly hair and wanting to tame it drives me to try almost every product I can get my hands on. Today I will face off Pantene and Dove Oil Replacement therapy.

Untitled-2_wm

Pantene was a miracle worker for me when it was first released. It helped relax my curls into waves, not to mention its glorious scent. However what would bother me was the texture which was way too sticky on my hands, even after I’d wash them I would still feel the product. When washing my hair, it would be sticky after the first rinse off, which means the hair didn’t absorb it, but merely was coated by it, so technically it wasn’t ‘therapy’. This oil replacement product was my go to choice until I recently tried Dove for the same hair care series. Funny thing is, when i reached for it on the supermarket aisle, I actually thought it was Pantene! To my luck when I got home, it turned out to be Dove. The scent isn’t as delish as Pantene, but the results are equal if not greater. What I prefer about this product is that it isn’t sticky, you can easily distribute it over your hair without the risk of it being more dense on some parts and barely there on others. Your hands come out clean and so does your hair when you wash it afterwards. read more

Slip-Ons

This season is all about comfort, and one of the major shoe trends right now is the slip-on. Its a genius shoe, you just slip it on (hence the name), no ties no nothing, and out the door you go. Not only is it practical, its comfy without compromising style. They can be found in a variety of colors and designs, each expressing your individuality. For a shoe that can be worn with most outfits, particularly during the day, choose tan and neutral colors. For a feminine look, go for colors or floral patterns and you can pull it off with a dress or a skirt. For a shoe that can be worn at night, choose black and it will complete a sleek outfit. For an edgier look, spikes is the way to go. read more

Spring 2014 Nail Trends

The color palettes for Spring nails are an extreme of color versus nude, yet none of which aren’t daring. I have compiled the latest trends in nail color from the runways, and organized them into 5 main categories for you to be inspired and choose from.

Lets start with the color blue, the trend ranges anywhere from baby blue to midnight blue and everything in between. The lighter shades are very feminine and are easy to pull off, however the darker shades similar to the ones trending this past fall are quite bold, if you like to deliver a shock factor they will work for you. read more
